☞ The Starfleet Persona System of the Rocketpunks ☜
“Every tale needs a teller, and every crew its cast. Let each find their station in time.”
Within the extended fleet family of our community—descended from Rocketpunk Space Patrol, Starfleet chapters, and decades of shared play—we hold fast to a singular conviction: that rank should reflect persona, not privilege. Age is but one axis of assignment; the true measure is participation, imagination, and the spirit with which one joins the crew.
Thus was born our system of persona and rank—not a ladder of exclusion, but a stage upon which all may act.
We recognize four primary categories of service:
☞ Line Officers
Commanders, administrators, and stewards of the ledger. These are the leaders who chart the course, file the reports, and keep the clockwork of our orders running. To don this mantle is to embrace both duty and paperwork.
- 65+ = Captain / Colonel
- 55+ = Commander / Lieutenant Colonel
- 45+ = Lieutenant Commander / Major
- 35+ = Lieutenant / Captain
- 25+ = Lieutenant (Junior Grade) / 1st Lieutenant
- 20+ = Ensign / 2nd Lieutenant
- 15+ = Cadet 1st Class
- 10+ = Cadet 2nd Class
- 5+ = Cadet 3rd Class
- <5 = Cadet 4th Class
☞ Staff Officers
Portrayers of rank who prefer to serve without command burdens. These officers hold the trappings of title and tradition, but not the tedium of administration.
- 60+ = Commander / Lieutenant Colonel
- 50+ = Lieutenant Commander / Major
- 40+ = Lieutenant / Captain
- 30+ = Lieutenant (Junior Grade) / 2nd Lieutenant
- 20+ = Ensign / 2nd Lieutenant
- 15+ = Cadet 1st Class
- 10+ = Cadet 2nd Class
- 5+ = Cadet 3rd Class
- <5 = Cadet 4th Class
☞ Warrant Officers
Specialists and savants—pilots, engineers, medics, technicians. These are the skilled hands who keep the machinery (literal or narrative) in motion.
- 65+ = Master Chief Warrant Officer
- 55+ = Senior Chief Warrant Officer
- 45+ = Chief Warrant Officer
- 35+ = Warrant Officer
- 25+ = Petty Officer 2nd Class / Sergeant
- 20+ = Petty Officer 3rd Class / Corporal
- 15+ = Crewman 1st Class / Lance Corporal
- 10+ = Crewman 2nd Class / Private 1st Class
- 5+ = Crewman 3rd Class / Private
- <5 = Recruit
☞ Enlisted
The foundation of the fellowship—those who serve simply by showing up. Whether watchers or wanderers, their presence grants strength to the whole.
- 65+ = Master Chief Petty Officer / Sergeant Major
- 55+ = Senior Chief Petty Officer / Master Sergeant
- 45+ = Chief Petty Officer / Gunnery Sergeant
- 35+ = Petty Officer 1st Class / Staff Sergeant
- 25+ = Petty Officer 2nd Class / Sergeant
- 20+ = Petty Officer 3rd Class / Corporal
- 15+ = Crewman 1st Class / Lance Corporal
- 10+ = Crewman 2nd Class / Private 1st Class
- 5+ = Crewman 3rd Class / Private
- <5 = Recruit
All ranks are honorary, chosen in the spirit of persona, and none confers privilege above another unless one chooses to bear the burden of command. Active participation may also hasten one’s advancement—for the sake of fairness and recognition, we grant that a member’s effective age for rank calculation shall include not only their biological years, but the square root of their years of engagement. Thus does passion shorten the path, and effort uplift the earnest.
In this structure, we cast not judgment, but roles.
And so, to each who joins our mission: may you find your place upon the bridge—not in the eyes of bureaucracy, but by the light of your own story.
