☙ The Chivalric Philosophy Behind Our Fellowship ❧
“Let those who walk beneath the Chevron do so not to conquer, but to comprehend.”
The Order of Vulgarian Knights holds no lands, levies no taxes, and commands no standing army—yet it binds together a company of souls from across the world under a code both elegant and unyielding.
We do not call it a rulebook. We call it a code.
Not a commandment, but a compass.
Not etched in stone, but in ink—and iron.
The Code of the Order is unwritten in its entirety, for no single scroll could contain its full measure. It is etched instead upon the conduct of its members, line by line, in every act of courtesy, camaraderie, curiosity, and courage.
Its tenets are few, but firm:
✠ I. The Gate Shall Stand Open
We do not judge by knowledge, collection, or pedigree. If a soul burns with curiosity and speaks with kindness, they are welcome at our fire.
✠ II. The Chevron Shall Not Point Down
We do not descend into cruelty, mockery, or petty pride. The black chevron on our shield points upward—toward aspiration, not domination.
✠ III. All Tales Are Worth the Telling
From Gothic to gonzo, sublime to strange—no genre is too humble, no story too obscure. We celebrate breadth, not hierarchy.
✠ IV. To Ride Is to Contribute
A Knight does not idle at the hearth. Whether one paints, writes, watches, serves, or speaks—each deed is a step further on the road.
✠ V. Memory Is the Measure of Worth
We mark contributions not in coin, but in memory. The ledger remembers. The Order rewards not noise, but presence.
The Code is neither perfect nor complete. It evolves with the Order and with the world it watches. But always, it hews close to one truth:
That in an age bereft of meaning, where irony is currency and cruelty is sport, there is strength in sincerity—and power in the deliberate choice to care.
It is not a rulebook for roleplay.
It is not a list of bylaws.
It is the answer to a single question:
What makes a Knight?
And if the reply must come in sword or scroll, or domino, or deed—then so be it.
Let the chevron rise. Let the Code endure.
And let every act of kindness be counted as a brick in the bastion we build against the dark.
