The Founding of the Esoteric Times

“The Esoteric Times Building, seat of the Collegium’s Press Division—a bastion of ink and inquiry, where parchment meets principle.”

☙ Why a Newspaper? Why Now? ❧

“A journal, not merely of events—but of curiosities, campaigns, and the quiet triumphs of fellowship.”

Some orders hold councils. Some publish minutes.
We print a newspaper.

Thus was born The Esoteric Times of Vulgaria, a peculiar little gazette with too many flourishes, too few deadlines, and far more sincerity than fashion allows.

It is no mere bulletin. It is not a ‘blog’ (though our scribes are not above the technology of the day). Rather, it is a deliberate anachronism—a reminder that some things are worth reading slowly, aloud, or twice.

Why a newspaper?

Because the Order of Vulgarian Knights is not a game, nor a guild, nor a fandom convention in digital dress. It is a society—and societies must speak. They must remember. They must print.

In the Times, you will find:

  • Reports of campaigns both cinematic and chivalric
  • Reviews of films, games, books, and beastly affairs
  • Posts from the field, where monsters yet prowl and dominoes fall
  • Challenges, correspondences, and curious calls to quest
  • And the proud public ledger of knightly deeds

The style is Victorian—not out of affectation, but by intent. The aesthetic of the 19th-century press, with its elaborate headers and serialized mysteries, reflects the tone of the Order itself: grave but not joyless, erudite but not exclusive, theatrical but not hollow.

It is, in a word, esoteric.
Not in the sense of being hidden, but of being special—crafted for those who seek.

Let other groups have dashboards and feeds. We have broadsheets and bulletins. For every Order must have its chronicle, and every knight their column.

And so we publish this strange paper, printed not in ink but in resolve. It shall serve as a lighthouse, a record, and a rallying cry for our scattered fellowship.

Let it ring.
